Lew Rockwell writes:
“Today? The president moves about like Caesar Augustus, with a vast, graded court of civil and military aides, doctors, secretaries, valets, hairdressers, makeup artists, bodyguards, drivers, baggage handlers, cooks, food tasters, Praetorian guards, snipers, centurions, bulletproof limos, a portable hospital, and an armored rostrum. Red State, Blue State, Interstate

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Driving across the country provides you with thinking time about issues that you normally wouldn’t dwell on. One of these involves rest areas.

My building was unharmed, but it is very unsettling to have such an uncommon, horrible occurrence happen right next to your home, which is supposed to serve as the ultimate safe haven. It makes you think about things you don’t normally think about.
At least [...]

I attended a lecture last night given by Bettina Greaves, an economist from the Austrian School, who studied under Ludwig von Mises. Ms. Greaves is a lovely lady who said she was happy to speak to young people (the lecture was at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) and gave us her email [...]

No wonder Tax Hike Mike Huckabee doesn’t want to get rid of all that bureaucracy in Washington (and in fact, wants to create more). Until she quit to work on his presidential campaign, Huckabee’s daughter Sarah worked for what Republicans have traditionally found to be the most bureaucratic and unnecessary agency, the federal Department of [...]
