Girls Just Wanna Have Freedom

About

I care for kids, families, the sick and the elderly, working class, middle class, and every American. To end poverty and advance the American Dream, I am Libertarian Girl.

For a few months (since the beginning of my site), I’ve had a page in the sidebar warning America (and the world, for that matter) about “Rudy Giuliani, Tax and Spend Liberal.” I’m glad to say that the T&SL has dropped out of the race– he was by far the worst candidate running, and I’m glad voters finally got beyond the hype and recognized that about at least one candidate.

I will note that I don’t think some of the other Republican candidates are all that much better than Rudy, and Rudy did improve his attitude a bit in the last few months and was, amazingly, more polite and gracious than the other candidates have been towards those GOPers who still want to follow a little thing called the Constitution (with the possible exception of Mitt Romney). Perhaps he wanted to capture what he realized was the GOP’s libertarian swing vote, or perhaps he simply realized what was right in the end.

Anyway, for preservation purposes, here are my thoughts on Rudy Giuliani.

“If I listed all the reasons why Giuliani is a terrible choice for president, I’d be writing straight through until the polls open for the primaries.

The most immediate reason that comes to mind is simple: Rudy Giuliani has little to no strength of character and flat out lies whenever it’s convenient. These are not good qualities in a president. Whether he ignored recommendations and decided to locate the NYC emergency headquarters in the World Trade Center, whether he’s never ever heard that “Islamic fascists” perceive us as occupying Saudi Arabia, whether he has told his wife he’ll divorce her before deciding to call a press conference and tell the world– he’s just dishonest in the way he conducts his life. He’s a loose cannon who threw out an invited head of state at a UN gathering as mayor of New York City, a guy who never read the 9/11 Commission Report, never showed up for his duties on the Iraq Study Group, and yet tries to pretend that he knows everything about the root causes of terrorism. He once even said in a Republican debate, “I secured the city of New York before 9/11″– hmm, didn’t do a really good job there, did you Rudy? The city was attacked on 9/11, on what you like to claim was your watch.

On top of all that, Giuliani is basically a Democrat running as a Republican– he raised certain taxes as New York Mayor and wanted to spend $2 billion of hard-earned taxpayer dollars for two new taxpayer-funded stadiums, he donated to Planned Parenthood, he made New York City a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants whether he admits to it or not, and he sued gun manufacturers saying they were complicit in the crimes being committed by their guns. He’s a big-government guy who saw fit to ban ferrets as pets, of all things. Heaven forbid I decide for myself what type of small animal I want to own.

Giuliani, 9/11, World War IV

Finally, he’s absolutely the worst candidate on civil liberties. His idea of “civil liberties” is having a telescreen in your house so all your movements can be watched by Big Brother. He lost in court 35 times to the ACLU– on the taxpayer’s dime, of course– for infringing on New Yorkers’ First Amendment rights, and the Thomas Jefferson Center in Charlottesville has given him its all-time Muzzle Award for infringing on free speech.

If Rudy Giuliani becomes President, he’ll have us looking back on the halcyon days of the small government, low deficits, high dollar and worldwide adoration America enjoyed under George W. Bush.

If you vote for this guy, it’s your fault. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

  5. Well, if the choice is between a Democrat and a zealot, maybe people will get smart and the longshot won’t be a longshot anymore.
