The brats at Democratic Underground are concerned and worried about all the Ron Paul signs they’ve seen everywhere, so much so that they advise each other to take down any Ron Paul signs they come across: “just don’t get caught.” One poster does caution the other lemmings against stealing signs, not because it’s wrong or un-American or against the democratic process, but because if they get caught they could be fined.
No wonder these people hate Ron Paul: the board is self-censorship at its worst (I prefer to hang out with a smarter and more cosmopolitan crowd.) Apparently, Democratic Underground has a rule prohibiting anyone saying that a non-Democratic candidate is good, and any posts saying such a thing will be removed by a moderator. Wow. I wouldn’t post on there even if I was a Democrat just out of principle.
Two reasons for why the DUs are running scared:
- They know Ron Paul is the only Republican who can defeat a Democrat in the general election by neutralizing the war issue, so it’s in their best interests for him not to get elected.
- They know Ron Paul is the only Republican who can lure Democrats and (especially) independents away from the eventual Democratic nominee, as a Republican or as a third party or independent candidate. Thus, Ron Paul could theoretically cost the Democrats the White House. A Michael Bloomberg run could do this as well, but not as effectively as Ron Paul could– just like Nader, many Dems would be scared that they would not get the White House and vote for their nominee simply out of fear. Ron Paul converts are principled, committed, and determined, much more so than Bloombergites would be.
