I’ve come to the conclusion that 10-term Congressman Ron Paul is crazy.

First of all, he has refused to take his lucrative congressional pension. When elected to Congress, 99.99% of politicians are smart enough to get what’s due to them as a public servant and actually take their pension. With all his time in office, Ron Paul could be a millionaire several times over just from his congressional pension benefits, like so many of his colleagues. In fact, what makes this even crazier is that Ron Paul actually used to work while he was in Congress, delivering babies as an obstetrician on weekends. Who ever heard of a member of Congress actually working?

Most politicians would not only take the millions in pension money, they would take all the special interest money they could get and forget about those individual donors Ron Paul seems to like so much. Who ever heard of someone financing a campaign just from small individual donations? John Edwards brags about how he’s taking public financing for his presidential campaign this year. Why doesn’t Ron Paul do the same? Ron Paul pays taxes in this country, so he deserves his share back from the government like the rest of us, doesn’t he? John Edwards is a wealthy millionaire and has probably given millions of dollars to the IRS, so it’s only fair that he gets his fair share back from Uncle Sam when he needs it, right?

What about this thing where Ron Paul votes no to bills that are unconstitutional? Doesn’t he realize that it’s so much easier to go along with the crowd and not be singled out as the one person standing up for a principle? The other politicians seem to realize that, and they get re-elected handily. They also seem to realize that it’s incredibly easy to say one thing and, once elected, do another, and then get re-elected again. Why doesn’t Ron Paul realize that? The other politicians seem to.
Can’t Ron Paul see that generations of politicians have experienced great success by taking money from special interest lobbies, pandering to different voters at different times, completely changing their views to get elected by different constituencies, trying to change history and scaring people about what may happen in the future, and when all else fails, lying to make a convenient point?

Finally, I’ve heard that Ron Paul actually offered to give some of his own money to mint a medal for Rosa Parks. He challenged his fellow members of Congress to also donate money to the cause, but (no surprise) they were smart enough not to offer to chip in. Why should they when, as members of Congress, they can simply pass a resolution using Americans’ taxpayer dollars to pay for that medal? This proves that Ron Paul is just not thinking clearly, like his fellow members of Congress. He already opted out of the millions of dollars in free money he could get from the congressional pension, and then he actually offered to spend more of his own money on a worthy cause??!!!????? The guy is obviously CERTIFIABLY INSANE!!

One thing is for sure. Ron Paul is crazy.
